Several mines in the UK have experienced difficulty in changing press fit sleeves especially when the sleeve has broken at the neck.
Minnovation were approached by UK Coal to develop a hydraulic activated extraction system that not only extracted worn sleeves but also headless sleeves.
The equipment illustrated below has been successfully used by UK Coal at both Kellingley & Daw Mill Mines for the use on Joy J35 & Kennametal K35 Blocks in situ underground.
On the left below is the arrangement for the Kennametal K35 system and on the right for the Joy J35 system.
